Apple 9.7-inch iPad Pro goes official, Indian launch date and pricing also announced

As anticipated, Apple has unveiled the 9.7-inch iPad Pro tablet in an event held yesterday in Cupertino, California. This new 9.7-inch iPad Pro will join the elite league of 12.9 inch iPad pro which was launched in India last year.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro will be available for purchase from next month onwards. Its 32GB (WiFi model) is priced at Rs 49,900 and where as the 32GB (WiFi+Cellular) model will cost Rs 61,900. The new iPad Pro also has 128GB (WiFi & WiFi+Cellular) and 256GB (WiFi & WiFi+Cellular) models. However, Apple has not revealed prices of these variants yet.

The The new iPad Pro will be available in four different colours- Space Grey, Silver, Gold and Rose Gold. The company also announced several optional accessories like Apple Pencil, Smart Keyboard, Polyurethane iPad Pro Smart Cover, Silicone Cases, USB-C Cable, Camera and Power Adapters for new iPad Pro.

The 9.7-inch iPad Pro features an LED-backlit Multi-Touch Retina display with 2048x1536 pixel resolution at 264 pixels per inch (ppi) and is powered by a A9X chip with 64-bit architecture with M9 co-processor. The new iPad Pro runs on iOS 9 operating system and is backed up by a built‐in 27.5‐watt‐hour rechargeable lithium‐polymer battery, which claims to offer up-to 10 hours of web surfing on WiFi, watching video or listening to music and up-to 9 hours of surfing the web using mobile data network on WiFi +Cellular models.

The new iPad Pro offers a 5-megapixel FaceTime HD camera with Retina Flash. The camera features include 720p HD video recording ability, ƒ/2.2 aperture, Auto HDR for photos and videos, Backside illumination, Exposure control, Burst mode, Timer mode, and Face detection. Further, the new iPad Pro offers one SIM slot (cellular model), iBeacon micro-location, WiFi (802.11a/b/g/n/ac), HT80 with MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, 4G LTE (WiFi+Cellular model), Assisted GPS and GLONASS, Touch ID, three‐axis gyro sensor, accelerometer, barometer and ambient light sensor.
